About Ross
For as long as I can remember sport has been a prominent part of my life. From swimming meets, judo competitions and basketball matches to a lifelong passion for football starting with little kickers at 4 years old....Sport has always been there. Moving into my young adulthood I had opportunity to play part time non-league football during university studies and at this time my passion for sport was coupled with a new found passion for supporting others.

I take a collaborative and empathetic approach to sport psychology, believing each sportsperson is the expert in their own journey, with my role being to support non-judgmentally. I do this by allowing clients space to be heard, reflect and challenge themselves to move closer to the person they want to be. I aim to provide a safe environment for sportspeople to gain understanding of themselves and in turn understand their performance.

I often use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach in my practice. This aims to support clients to be present and non-judgmentally accept difficult thoughts, emotions and feelings and move beyond them. Aiming to free clients to act more aligned to their values.

I have experience working across a variety of sports including equestrian, football, rugby, touch rugby, athletics, swimming, tennis and netball. I currently hold a sport psychology position within Millfield school and other recent work includes attending the touch rugby world cup supporting the M55s to a bronze medal. Additionally, I work with a fitness brand to support athletes attending strength based events alongside private clients.

Currently I am Sport and Exercise psychologist in Training (SEPit) on the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) SEPAR pathway, which I will complete in Feb 2027. Following such I will be eligible for HCPC registration.
England National Touch Rugby Player
"Ross is an excellent practitioner and I have no doubt that he will be involved in sport at the highest level. He was calm, focused throughout our (World Cup) campaign and could be relied upon to lift those in the squad that needed to be. His maturity belied his age and was I very impressed by how well he related to the whole squad."
Youth Tennis Player
"Since doing the psychology sessions with Ross I feel like my emotions have been a lot more controlled whilst I play tennis. Mainly being able to stay calm and not getting nervous whilst I play. I’ve been able to do this by working on having a set routine for between points and when I have breaks."
Sports Coach
"Ross is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about his chosen subject. He genuinely cares about the athletes that he is supporting and meets them where they are currently. He has a wide range of delivery methods which enable him to connect with the athletes and coaches that he is supporting."
My North Stars....
The Values that I use to guide me in what I do
Adventure
Connection
Learning
Courage
Adventure is something which guides me both in life and in practice. I believe that Sport Psychology is an adventure of understanding yourself better as a person and a performer and one I am always excited to embark on with clients.
Connection with others, meeting new people and deepening connections with those known to me, is key to how I try to approach life and practice. Fostering new relationships, being able to provide support and see others flourish is something I am very grateful to be a part of always.
Learning everyday is something greatly important to me. This also blends into my practice, holding the client as the expert in their own journey and endeavouring to learn, support and understand them through my role is key to my practice. I am a firm believer that there is something to learn from everyone.
What will yours be?
Courage...But perhaps not in the traditional sense. Not feeling no fear, but feeling the fear, accepting it and doing the scary thing anyway. This concept is key to my practice both on a personal level, public speaking or during competition and also a common practice area with clients.
